September 2023: BOSNA Scholar Represents Botswana in New Hampshire
Botswana continues to be well represented!
BoSNA scholar Seabelo Chabo John represented Botswana at Plymouth Regional High School in Plymouth, New Hampshire. Invited by local teacher Mr. Anthony Cassarino, John shared his experience as a Botswana citizen in various classes. He was given the opportnuity to share with the students about Botswana's history, economy, geography, and culture.
The Plymouth Regional High School expressed interest in establishing a new student exchange program between the school and some Botswana schools. John and Cassarino will be tasked at coordinating these efforts. They will be working with the Embassy of Botswana and friend of Botswana Edwin Sheppard, who currently runs an exchange program between Botswana and Florida high schools.
February 2023: United Nations Global Engagement Summit
Botswana was well represented!
BoSNA students UNA-USA Queens leaders represented their communities at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York City. The high level event - The Annual Global Engagement Summit (GES) - with world leaders and ambassadors, coordinated by the United Nations Association of the United States of America was held at the UN Headquarters this Friday.

October 2022: BOIPUSO
HAPPY 56th INDEPENDENCE DAY BOTSWANA!
The Botswana Scholars Association and the Botswana-New York Association hosted an amazing celebration bringing together Batswana families living in the NY tri-state area and Philadelphia. The food was amazing too! We had madombi, seswaa, and other traditional delicacies and networked with talented Batswana professionals serving the world in different industries.
Thank you to youth leaders Goleba Lefatshe, Thuto Mfolwe, Lone Busang, and more for making this event such a success.

June 2022: ANNUAL SCHOLARS CONFERENCE
"You are all ambassadors of Botswana," said H.E. Ambassador Kitso Mokaila, the ambassador of Botswana to the United States stationed in Washington, DC. Mokaila addressed all students representing Botswana abroad. In this Annual Scholar Conference, students shared with each other their experiences, hopes, and dreams. They also shared their challenges and urged the ambassador to keep in touch and support them in their academic journey abroad. Team Education, the Education Attaché's office led by Mses. Isabella Makgatswana and Mia Polan reminded the scholars of their scholarship guidelines and expectation, stressing that students remember they are here to study and return back home to improve the country.
BOSNA conducts annual scholar conferences, regular townhalls, and ongoing discussions to address student needs and develop engaging strategies for success during and after their scholarships.
January 2022: COVID-19 AND SPRING SEMESTER NOTES
Happy New Year! As the Spring 2022 Semester begins, here are some notes for all continuing students.
1. Check with your school's Student Services or advisor for the COVID-19 vaccine or latest booster shot requirements.
2. If necessary, submit your book allowance requests early. Requirements: Dated transcript from the previous semester (Fall 2021) and dated proof of enrollment showing all registered courses you will be taking. Email these two documents in .pdf format to education@botswanaembassy.org.
3. Waive out of college insurance by emailing your school's Student Services or advisor. This will prevent the government from paying twice.

December 2020: COVID-19 AND TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS
PRESS RELEASE - PRESIDENT MASISI APPROVES LIFTING OF INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS IN A PHASED MANNER STARTING FROM THE 9th NOVEMBER 2020
His Excellency the President Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi has approved the lifting of international travel restrictions in a phased manner starting from the 9th of November, 2020 and extending to the 1st of December, 2020, covering the 14 Points of Entry listed as follows:
i. On the 9th of November, 2020, air travel will resume at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport in Gaborone, Kasane International Airport and Maun International Airport.
ii. On the 1st of December, 2020, Ground Crossing will resume at the commercial border points of Kazungula road, Kazungula ferry, Ngoma, Ramokgwebana, Martins Drift, Ramatlabama, Tlokweng, Mamuno, Pioneer and Mohembo.
iii. Furthermore, international air travel will resume on the 1st of December, 2020 at Phillip G. Matante International Airport in Francistown.
All arriving travellers will be expected to meet the following requirements:
a) Present a valid 72 Hour negative COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) result from time of departure.
b) Screened for COVID-19 symptoms upon entry.
c) Symptomatic clients upon arrival will be required to undertake mandatory testing and possible isolation and or quarantine, as per section 76 (1) (2) and 80 of the Public Health Act of 2013.
d) The traveller will be required to remain in contact with the local health authority for a period of 14 days doing self-monitoring.
e) Returning citizens and residents not meeting the requirement will undergo 14-day mandatory quarantine and testing at their own cost (as assessed by local authority).
f) Non-citizen travelers not meeting the requirements will NOT be allowed entry into Botswana.
g) Travellers exiting Botswana are expected to comply with travel regulations of the destination country at their own expense.
The remaining Points of Entry will be considered in due course subject to disease burden and harmonization with other neighbouring countries.
